Autumnwatch on BBC For those of us who enjoyed Springwatch, we have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Autumnwatch this year and I am happy to report that the new series hasn't let us down. In fact, it's better than ever! Now that the nights are getting colder, this is a great way to stay in and feel cosy, while watching the TV. If you haven't had the pleasure of watching this series, then you are in for a treat. Autumnwatch on BBC Following the success of Springwatch, we were delighted to see that Autumnwatch has joined our screens - for the next 8 weeks. Chris Packham and Kate Humble are back with us though sadly, Bill Oddie isn't joining the series this time, having left after 4 years in Jan. The series began in Herefordshire and promises to be enthralling viewing. The program follows our local wildlife to see what autumn brings and so far, has been action packed. From migrating birds to rutting stags, it offers amazing footage that we wouldn't ordinarily get to see. they also have a great website (details below) which allows us to see what ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Springwatch: Come back Bill Oddie, all is forgiven (1071 words)

The 2009 run of this series has to count as one of the most ghastly exhibitions of twee Oxbridge BBC TV programmer values I've seen in ages. The presenters they've chosen for it are, in this viewer's opinion, unwatchably awful; this year 'Springwatch' has gone right down the drain as a result. So in general this is a television show with a pretty good - if peculiarly timed - premise; it is a sort of a 'magazine' show focussing on various segments of live-action and recently recorded footage of (mainly) birds and animals. They look at blue-tit nests; they routinely film live action shots of badgers bumbling about in woodlands at dusk - the programme airs at ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Secret World Revealed (972 words)

Springwatch is a BBC2 show that airs for three weeks every Spring. A team of wildlife experts follow and celebrate nature as new life unfolds, capturing the secret dramas of survival. The life of birds features most prominantly with mini cameras capturing each moment from the hatching of the egg to the day the chicks fledge. The show also focuses on the life cycles and survival instincts of insects, plants and animals. 2009's Springwatch starts on 25th May and will have a few new human faces at the helm. Bill Oddie has left the building! I repeat: Bill Oddie has left the building! The much loved and most famous bird watcher in Britain retired from presenting ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Springwatch: Reality television at its best! (746 words)

At the moment my favoutite time of day has to be 8 o'clock in the evening because four times a week I can sit down at this time and watch the glorious 'Springwatch' programme on BBC2. It's a celebration of all that is wonderful in the British countryside and over the week we have seen stories of love and death on a huge scale. The programme's main presenters are the very likeable Bill Oddie and Kate Humble who make a very good combination. There is a good natured banter between the two and their enthusiasm for all the wildlife is ever so apparent and they have not let it be dampened by the good old British weather. They are presenting the main programme from a ...  Read the complete review
