Star Trek - Have I got it right? (Star Trek - Deep Space Nine)
Member Name: ToySoldier
Advantages: Best 45 minutes of television available. Disadvantages: Enterprise series. Just been reading a few reviews about Star Trek in its various guises (Including the rubbish that unfortunately carries the name "Star Trek : Enterprise") How Paramount studios had the cheek (nerve!) to comission the series was beyond me. Even more amazing was that "so-called" Star Trek aficionados around the world screamed for it to be re-instated? after 2 seasons (26 episodes to a season in the States) From where I am sat, these people had to be missing 11 1/2 pence from a shilling (old currency). Now to join in the controversy we have a film about the early days of Jim Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy and Mr. Scott (Chief Engineer) and their supposed meeting early in their various careers. According to all the books I've read about the series (all of them). They NEVER met until coming aboard the Federation Star Ship NCC 1701 Enterprise. So the film has it wrong even before its release. To pile catastrophy onto calamity, (or should that be the other way around?) the Daily Star ran a competition concerning the number of series within the Star Trek franchise, with the answer given as five. The original Star Trek, followed by The Next Generation, then Deep Space Nine. Next came Voyager and finally Enterprise. It seems they forgot all about the animated series of the original Star Trek (or doesn't that count?) Anyway it seems that both Paramount studios and the Daily Star have it wrong. Considering the amount of repeats that we get on terrestrial television why don't they give us a re-run of something entertaining, they've got to be far better than programmes like Big Brother. In fact Enterprise is FAR better than that programme and all the others in the same vein! Replies eagerly awaited !?!? Summary: You either love 'em or hate them (I hate Enterprise!) |
