Star Trek - EnterpriseNewest Review: ... just as Earth was beginning to venture out into space. This was before Kirk and the Federation. According to the storyline, we?ve had warp drive for about 90 years. The Vulcans don?t think we can cut it. Earth feels that they?ve been hindering us our progress at every turn. We?ve met the Andorians, but they?re still to savage and paranoid for us to want to deal with. There?s still no ... more |

When it was announced that Star Trek: Voyager was ending its run after seven seasons, I was worried. It would be the first time in over a decade that I wouldn?t have new Star Trek to look forward to. Then it was announced that a new series was in the works. It would take place before the first series, just as Earth was beginning to venture out into space. This was before Kirk and the Federation. According to the storyline, we?ve had warp drive for about 90 years. The Vulcans don?t think we can cut it. Earth feels that they?ve been hindering us our progress at every turn. Satisfied that they had depleted story lines of the future. The star trek writers, under great pressure from the fans as all the other series had finished, decided to venture into star trek's beginnings. This fifth series of star trek is set in the time before Kirk and all those people that followed him such as Picard and Janeway. It is set in a time when humans first build a ship worthy to patrol the galaxy on its own. This series is so different to all the others because of the single fact that "Enterprise", as the ship is called, is the only starfleet ship out there. There are only the suppressive and somewhat condesending vulcans who they are ... Read the complete review

Enterprise is the latest addition to the Star trek family, following on from the original series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Then there's been the big screen films as well as an animated series. This time round for Enterprise we go back to the very beginning of Star Fleets journeys into space, set even before the days of Kirk and Spock Enterprise is more of a prologue to the whole Star Trek world. We see the crew journey into outer space with new technology like Phasers and the transporter which has only been used on cargo. The opening credits of any show do play some importance to the overall fee of lit and Enterprise takes ... Read the complete review

On the 15th December 2001 I was invited to a screening of the pilot for the new Star Trek series, Enterprise, due here on Sky 1 in early 2002, and Summer/Autumn on Channel 4. Here is my review for Big Rag. There are some spoilers so beware! Beam me up! Enterprise is set around 150 years from now, when mankind is just starting out into the final frontier and exploring strange new worlds. The technology is primitive and the crew are a little nervous. The pilot episode "Broken Bow" deals with a mission to get a Klingon crashed on Earth back to his home. However there are dark forces willing Captain Jonathan Archer and his intrepid crew to fail... I think ... Read the complete review

As a fan of the original Star Trek series, I have watched the basic idea expand in numerous directions over the years. The introduction of The Next Generation was virtually inevitable because Star Trek remained popular but the actors were aging beyond acceptance. The addition of Voyager and Deep Space Nine were equally understandable to provide further viewing hours without overplaying a single story. However, the introduction of Enterprise is something I cannot understand. Despite the varied situations and characters portrayed in the other versions of the story, each has the advantage of being able to create and use new technology on a frequent basis. It was ...
