Advantages: good borg episodes, introduction of seven brought in better storys, did'nt carry on.

Disadvantages: Nelix, Kes, Harry ( I can't spell personality ) Kim, i think saying a character's worse than jar jar binks, says alot for the show, star trek has to live with it.

Voyager, a federation ship is thrown on the other side of the galaxy ( purely by accident of course ), they have to work together to find a fast way home, survive the unknown delta quadrant, ( the borg's neighbourhood, and they don't take kindly to tresspassers ), and make it home before ds9 takes all the ratings, ( which is what happened anyway ). Voyager was an attempt to get back at the " explorer ", theme, and by stranding the crew on the far side of the unknown galaxy. a good attempt, I will agree, ds9 was'nt soaking up the ratings, to taking trek back to it's roots might help, oh it might have worked, had they had either a better cast, or better character ideas, and not made them such push-overs. Voyager adds greatly to the list of awful trek charcters:

Harry ( I'd be good as a statue ) Kim: Yawn!....spends his time taking orders, playing the flute, and seems to be the type of person who would enjoy watching paint dry.

Nelix: More annoying than Jar Jar Binks, ( is that possible!? ), a waste of time character who needed to go away, and stay away. I guess that's why they got rid of him before the series finished. Shame it was'nt for good.

Kes: Words cannot describe how awful she was, she spent most of her time gardening, or like nelix, getting in the way.

The series picked up half way, with the borg storylines, and seven ( a former borg drone ), comming into the series ( and kes did the right thing and b*ggered off ). infact, they should have just called it " star trek: seven ", since she took up the most storys. and they proved to be amongst the best. Voyager starts of bad, gets better, then dips back down to bad, the characters are push-overs, some episodes would put you to sleep with ease, and just as you think " hey this show ain't that bad ", it has the ability to do so. out of ds9, and voyager, ds9 is the clear winner, voyager is the opposite of ds9,
why?
well for a start off ds9 was good.

I grew into liking this. You're right Kes was awful but things picked up when 7of9 joined. There were some good stories later in the series.
