Stargate Atlantis Reviews

Newest Review: ... of anything as food. My Opinion ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Personally I have enjoyed Stargate Atlantis, however for me SG1 will always be the best show. The characters in SG1 were all special and unique, and unfortunately when you have a team like that, it is impossible to make the viewers like any other team better than the original. However they did make a good job of it, with the typical male good looking lead played by Joe Flanigan. He has that typical O'Neil wit which fits well, but isn't a complete copy which is a good thing. Then there is the Daniel Jackson version in Rodney Mckay. This time though instead of making a cool geek like Danie... more

Spin-offs are usually hit or miss, and for the most parts they seem to flop. However its great to see that Stargate Atlantis is definitely a hit. I was a huge fan of the SG1 series, and went through a post Stargate depression, so I was very intrigued once I heard that they were making Atlantis. What I loved about the beginning is how they thought about the SG1 viewers and tried to make the transition over to Atlantis easy by including Daniel Jackson and O'Neill in the first episode. Cast ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joe Flanigan as Lt. Colonel John Sheppard Rachel Luttrel as Teyla Emmagan David Hewlett as Dr. Rodney McKay Jason Momoa as ... Read the complete review

A spin off from the original Stargate SG1 series, Stargate Atlantis explores the Pegasus Galaxy and the lost city of Atlantis, the origin of the Ancients, by using the elusive 8th chevron. With this new galaxy comes a new and fearful enemy, the Wraith. While the first couple of seasons have original one-off stories and some fairly different character make-up to SG1, eventually a certain echo of resemblance develops in these single episode stories. Stargate Atlantis hosts some of TV's best CGI and delivers with epic season finales. Main characters Major John Sheppard - a soldier with a taste for disobedience, he is nonetheless ... This is a spinoff of the series Stargate: SG1. Ripoff would be a more accurate term - and I'm a fan of both, let it be said. The producers did try a little bit to shuffle around the characteristics of the team as a whole - they made the alien a woman, for instance. There was only one brilliant scientist, and he was a geek. They kept the leader absolutely the same - a loner, pretends to be dumb, wisecracking, heart of gold. There was one crucial mistake in the mix, however - the token black guy - I'm pretty sure they thought he was too bland, and couldn't think up many stories for him throughout the first season. I can see the reasoning for creating a ... Read the complete review

* Be warned I may give away some of the story if you have never seen the series Stargate Atlantis is a direct spin off of Stargate SG1, another spin off of the hugely successful stargate Movie that was released in 1994. This is not a stand alone spin off as it is directly related to Stargate SG1, unlike the new third part of the franchise, Stargate Universe, which is a complete stand alone series, or at least that is what it is stated as. The series begins on Earth with the discovery of the lost city of Atlantis, an advanced star ship that was abandoned over 10,000 years ago and the stars of the series moving into this new home that is in another ... ***Contains casting spoilers*** In 1994 the feature film 'Stargate' was released and began the hugely popular franchise that has resulted in two television series, an animated series, a few made for TV films and several books. Of these it is Stargate SG1 that gained the greatest success, both critically and among fans; it is this production that prompted the making of Stargate Atlantis. The premise, in the Stargate universe, is based around the discovery of the Stargate device which allows people to travel to different planets in a matter of seconds, by creating a mini worm hole. In the first series, Stargate SG1, we follow a small team as ... Read the complete review
