Stargate S.G. 1

Newest Review: ... series takes this idea further, as not only can the Stargate take you to one particular world, it can take you to many others, as well as letting others through to your world. Jack O'Neil (retired) is persuaded to rejoin the air force when aliens come unexpectedly through the Stargate while it is in storage, and they try to discover where the aliens came from and retrieve the hostage they have taken. Dr Jackson, who chose to stay behind on the planet Abydos, in the movie, is the first to be questioned before they determine that there are indeed many planets which have use of a Stargate. The series then progresses as a number of di... more

A spin-off from the movie, and infinitely better done. In the movie, Dr Jackson works out that the Stargate, a giant ring structure, allows you to dial a wormhole to another planet. And so military team led by Jack O'Neil is sent to explore and ultimately discovers aliens posing as gods of Egyptian mythology, and enslaving the people of this planet. The series takes this idea further, as not only can the Stargate take you to one particular world, it can take you to many others, as well as letting others through to your world. I have been a fan of Stargate since the first season. It is the only programme that I can watch over and over. I have seen every episode and every film, and with the exception of two episodes I would say I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. Stargate is based around a team of four mismatched individuals, Colonel O'Neill the retired airforce officer brought out of retirement, Samantha Carter the brainiac air force scientist, Daniel Jackson the debunked archaeologist and general expert on all things ancient, and Teal'c the muscles behind the team and ex First Prime of Apophis. The series is based on the exploits of this team and, in the first few ...  Read the complete review

I got hooked on this show about 3 years ago on sky one, if you want to watch it its on every day there. I was just channel flicking and decided to watch it. I was soon addicted and watched it every weekday for the rest of that year to try and catch up on what i missed. The plot lines to the show are well thought out and the acting superlative although it has sadly been shut down by the sci-fi channel in the US so there wont be any more episodes. I think the main reason for this happening was the replacement of a few of the main cast such a Colonel Jack O'Neil who added greatly to the show. For anyone who hasnt seen it it is about a ring which ...  Read the complete review

Being a big sci-fi fan I watched almost everything possible, stargate is one of my all time favorite, the series go on for 10 long seasons, and is a little bit a shame if you love this franchise that they decided to quit it because of the low ratings mixed with the low budget available to them, luckily for stargate fans there are 2 films coming out, a probable new spinoff, and atlantis still going for the 4th series that will start in about a week in usa. Stargate sg-1 is basically a spinoff on it's own of the movie, it basically continued the story where the movie left. If you saw the movie you probably recall Jack O'Neill as the leader of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Stargate S.G. 1: Stargate SG1 is the greatest (420 words)

I started watching it a couple of seasons ago and fell in love with it. I have the first season on DVD and hope (someday) to get the rest. I love the action. And while it most likely would be impossible to do (at least with our current knowlege of technology), it's fun to watch what technology the writers can come up with (ie, one zap disables the person, two kills them and three discreates (sp) them). I love the humor in the show. Jack is always coming up with some one-liner (such as one he is finally cured of the virus on Bronic Divide and says "Lucy, I'm home". Teal'c reaction (not understanding where the phrase came from) ...  Read the complete review
