Stargate UniverseNewest Review: ... members of the public, scientists and nobodies, the biggest task is surviving rather than finding their way home. The plot seems very familiar to that of Star Trek Voyager and in fairness is pretty much a clone of in the basic concept. New planets need to be explored, new spieces met, new challenges met in an unfamiliar climate. Despite brief appearances from Carter, Jackson and O'Neill, the new series sees a totally new cast and feel. The brains are Eli and Rush (wonderfully played as a stubborn, angry and troubled genius by Robert Carlyle) whilst the leadership comes from Young, aided by Scott and the Tea'lc like character of Greer ... more |

New ground for the Stargate team as they concentrate less on the stargate and more on another physical object, in this case an ancient alien spaceship called Destiny. Trapped their after a relatively unimportant attack (in the grand scene of things) required a quick escape through a stargate, the crew are millions of light years away from Earth and are unable to get home. With the crew made up of a variety of Air Force personell, members of the public, scientists and nobodies, the biggest task is surviving rather than finding their way home. You sit and wait, chat on forums and chat rooms and tie something down to what you think it should be and then it's nothing like that; it's better. That is the hallmark of a successful franchise. However, having said that - we're all only 6 episodes into the first season, it may change and swing round radically but all signs point to awesome. Dr ... Read the complete review

MGM are certainly getting their money's worth out of the Stargate franchise, with 3 Stargate movies, SG1 and Atlantis, an Atlantis movie in production, Stargate Infinity, talks on a new SG1 project (possible 4th movie) and now Stargate Universe. == What's this one about == In a nutshell Stargate Universe follows the lives of a rag tag team who, because of an attack from the Lucian Alliance, have ended up on an ancient ship (The Destiny) which is travelling across the universe on a preset course. The unmanned ship set off thousands of years earlier, so the life support system and other systems are past their best. Luckily the ship has ... Read the complete review
