The Story Makers.....

The Story Makers is a programme aired on the CBeebies channel and is aimed at children who are of pre-school age. The programme is usually on at around 11.45 am and lasts for approximately 15 minutes.

The show is about a group of people who make stories. They enter the library at midnight a time when all the customers and librarians have gone home for the day. The Wordsworth family each take it in turn to make the stories along with two puppets by the names of Jelly and Jackson. They make the stories by putting different objects and sometimes ideas into the story making machine then they ask everyone to use their imagination because this is what the story making machine needs most of.


Once the machine has its object/idea and plenty of imagination, out pops a story book about a different character. Jack's favourite stories, and mine, are about Blue Cow who is a talking blue cow and she takes different journeys on a bus to find out about things she has been thinking about. It is rather silly but rather fun.

When dawn comes the story makers have to leave the library before the librarians come to open up for the day. Of course they always leave behind the books that they have made that evening and the librarian that comes in at opening up time always wonders where the book has come from.

The whole show is brightly coloured and highly entertaining. This is a good show and on the CBeebies website is says that the idea behind it is to encourage children to have a love of books. Jack already has that love of books and that is perhaps why he likes this show.

It may only last 15 minutes but you get a lot packed into that time to keep little people interested. If we are in when this programme is on Jack does like to watch it and stays watching it till the end. I think it is a brilliantly done show and well worth a top rating of Five stars.
