Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is a comedy series starring Matthew Perry from Friends. Studio 60 is a sketch show similar to Saturday Night Live.

Studio 60 was shown on More 4 in the UK, however I kept missing it and so have since rented the series. I only ever saw the pilot on TV and really enjoyed it.

The show got rave reviews following the pilot but it does start to slip as the season evolves. Do not get me wrong.... I enjoyed the show and would recommend it, however it is much better towards the beginning. It did not deserve to be cancelled after only the first season.

THE CAST AND CHARACTERS

Matthew Perry ... Matt Albie
Matthew Perry is better known as the wise cracking Chandler in Friends. Matt Albie is the main writer at Studio 60, he is best friends with Danny Tripp and complete head over heels in love with Harriet. Matthew give a good performance, this role is similar to the Chandler role, which is a character I love, so Matt Albie was a fantastic addition to the show for me.

Bradley Whitford ... Danny Tripp
I have never seen the West Wing but have been told that Bradley Whitford played Josh. Danny Tripp is a recovering drug addict who is blackmailed by Jordan into taking the role as executive producer at Studio 60. His relationship with Jordan becomes more interesting as the season progresses.

Amanda Peet ... Jordan McDeere
Amanda Peet was in A lot Like Love with Ashton Kutcher. Jordan is the Network Executive in charge of Entertainment. Following the meltdown of the Studio 60 head, Wes, on live TV (on Jordan's first day) she fights to get Danny and Matt to take over the show and save both the show and her job.

Steven Weber ... Jack Rudolph (Single White Female)
Jack is the Network Vice President, his main aim for Studio 60 is to improve ratings, as this will result in higher advertiser spend.

D.L. Hughley ... Simon Stiles (Scary Movie 3)
Simon is a comedian on the show, he spends a lot of time with Tom and is very outspoken. He has very firm believes and views and stands up for them.

Sarah Paulson ... Harriet Hayes (Serenity)
Harriet is Matt's on-again / off-again girlfriend and a practicing Christian comedian on the show. Harriet is a brilliant character towards the beginning of the show, however as the show progresses and we delve into the relationship between Matt and Harriet the character becomes a little annoying.

Nathan Corddry ... Tom Jeter (The Nanny Diaries)
Tom is one of my favourite characters. He is a sweet, honest comedian on the show. His brother is serving in Afghanistan and this becomes a major plot line towards the end. He begins dating Lucy, which is a nice subplot and made me like Tom even more.

Timothy Busfield ... Cal Shanley (Danny in The West Wing)
Cal is the show's long serving editor. He becomes more prominent as the show continues, with some pretty funny side plots.

Lucy Davis ... Lucy Kenwright (Dawn in The Office)
Lucy Davis played Dawn in the UK edition of the office. Lucy Kenwright is a new writing on the show who along with Darius gets quickly promoted when the bulk of the writers leave the show.

Nate Torrence ... Dylan Killington
Dylan is an unconfident comedian who does not believe in his ability and thinks that he isn't as good as the other actors on the show.

Camille Chen ... Samantha Li - one of the actresses
One of the female actresses on the show.

Ayda Field ... Jeannie Whatley - babe actress
Jeannie is one of the actresses on the show - she is the hottie of Studio 60. She is the bootie call of Matt each time he splits up with Harriet.

Columbus Short ... Darius Hawthorne - freshman writer
Darius is found by Simon and hired by Matt. He works with Lucy and has a few run ins with Simon.

Summary: Give it a watch!
