Advantages: Good show
Disadvantages: Only for every now and again.
Angela Rippon presents this daytime television programme where two contestants travel to a market in Europe to buy objects with the aim of bringing them back to sell in England.
The most frequent location the contestants visit is France. Each contestant gets paired up with an expert to guide them. Sometimes however the contestants should trust their instincts as the 'experts' can often get it very wrong!
Angela Rippon gives each pair around £250-£300 to spend. They have to buy a minimum of 10 items. The haggling is great to watch because even with the language barriers they often get great bargains.
Then thy go back to the UK to sell the items hopefully at a profit! This is rarely the case though. At the end of the programme they have to clear their tables often by letting big bits of furniture for a pound! This is my mum's favourite part of the show as she wishes she was there!
The winner is the person with the most money in their money belt at the end of the show. Angela Rippon then gives the winner a gift she bought in where they went to buy the objects.
Overall this is one of the better day time shows as every programme is in a different location so it keeps it new. The process is entertaining to watch as are the characters of the people on the show.
Summary: Well worth a watch

- 30/04/09 It might be very useful if you could compare it to other bargain/antique tv programmes like Cash in the attick in terms of format, entertainment value, etc. |
