Advantages: Can take the place of a sedative

Disadvantages: Poor, predictable and farfetched plot

I happened to catch a couple of Sunset Beach omnibuses (Yes, I was THAT bored), and I must say that this American soap is sheer rubbish.

First of all, the town is populated by women who look like former beauty queens and men who can pass as underwear models. OK, so all of them happened to inherit good genes. Fine. But how many women actually wear heavy make-up and jewellery (yep, lots of it) at home??

Then there's the farfetched plot - complicated relationships and love triangles, an amnesiac (yawn, how original) and a character with an evil twin (oh, I'm sure the producers couldn't resist this one). And to make matters worse, the beach was hit by a tidal wave, which of course was inevitable (I mean, what's a beach without a tidal wave?) AND an earthquake.

The plot is very predictable and everything happens in slow motion. I also noticed that the characters have a strange and somewhat annoying habit of talking to themselves, or thinking out loud, as some might put it: "Oh, I'm so evil, I'm going to set fire to this house and everyone in it. *wicked grin*"

I don't know about you, but I personally think this show is an insult to anyone's intelligence.
