Also, too much of the first series, aired last year on prime-time BBC1, feels too often like a preamble or set-up for a second series. Never is this more prevalent than in the final episode- much of which was shown in the preceeding episodes closing trailer- which ends on a cliffhanger that had been building for a couple of weeks and was oh so slightly predictable. Survivors is due to return to our screens this year but in the meantime, this first series is due to shortly be available on DVD.... more |

Survivors is the latest BBC adaptation of a science-fiction drama originally thought up by Terry Nation, otherwise known as the creator of the Daleks, and shown in the seventies. Have you ever noticed how quickly the flu can spread around an office? Once one person gets it, its quickly passed around, and the chances are you have had flu yourself at some point (probably many times) - imagine if the flu turned out to be something more sinister. Originally show on television in April 1975, this tape contains the first two episodes of "Survivors" by Terry Nation (of Dr Who fame), in this series a deadly virus strikes down and quickly kills 95% of the worlds population, only a few survivors remain. The story of the downfall of the majority of the human race is dealt with in the first episodes, but it does not ... Read the complete review
