Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse were the creative genius behind the sketch show called The Fast Show and this was the first place that viewers came across the character Swiss Toni.

In The Fast Show he was played by Charlie Higson and Higson revived the character for this series of half hour shows which attempted to turn what was basically a one joke character into a half hour show and like others before and since it was not a success,

Swiss Toni was a sharp suited, bouffont haired car salesman who considered himself a bit of a ladies man. In the Fast Show his joke was to basically relate everything back to a comparison of making love to a beautiful woman whilst all the time the viewer knew that his supposed attraction to the opposite sex existe only in his own head.

This attempt to base a comedy in a car showroom did not work, the other characters had to be larger than life to be able to compete with Toni and in the end the whole show descended into farce as there was not enough material to make it funny.

Definately a turkey of a programme in my opinion.

Summary: Should have stayed as a two minute sketch character
