Teletubbies.....
Teletubbies is a children's TV programme that has been around a good number of years now. It is aired twice daily on the CBeebies channel. The programme Teletubbies was a big hit when it was first aired back in the early nineties. To date there is literally tons of merchandise sold to coincide with the programme and it is a big hit with children across the globe.
It is aimed at pre-school children initially and the programme stars four characters, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La and Po. They are each a different colour and slightly different size. The characters themselves are rather like mutated teddy bears and even though very strange looking are adorable in their own way.
The characters have a different way of talking which resembles that of a small baby although they do make the occasional sense. Each character has a specific object that is favours such as a large bouncy ball, a cow print top hat, a scooter or a large red handbag.
The Teletubbies live in a small garden type bunker, which is set in a lovely grassy knoll. There are beautiful flowers growing and wild rabbits bouncing around and the scene is almost idyllic. When the sun comes out the Teletubbies come out to play (inside the sun is a large head of a smiling laughing baby). The run around their garden jumping, bouncing and getting up to all sorts of crazy fun.
The Teletubbies favourite food is of course "Tubby Custard!" which when they eat they often make a lot of mess. They are of course called the Teletubbies and this is for the reason they have a TV screen in their tummies. Through the programme, the main section is where one special chosen Teletubbies of the day will have a small film shown via the screen on their tummy. The film will often be of a child getting up to something. Such as a trip to the local farm ad the child petting animals. This clip will run for around five minutes and then the most annoying part happens. Once the film has finished the Teletubbies will all be shown and they will all shout in unison "Again, Again, Again!". For the next five minutes you have to sit through the same film that not even a few seconds ago you had just seen! This I find most frustrating although Jack never seems to be that bothered.
Al in al though this programme is very watchable. The characters are loveable in their own mutated way. Although some of the language can be annoying and probably not the best thing for Jack to be listening to and trying to imitate it does have some appeal.
It has to have got something right otherwise it would not be such a success. I would have to give this programme a good score of 5 stars and hope that it will continue to air for many generations of pre-schoolers to come!
RECOMENDED!!!
Summary: A nice show

Its very successful right across the globe. Apparently in Israel they say "Shalom." |

- 28/09/08 The good old teletubbies! Has seen me through 2 nieces, 3 nephews and one son - a classic. I must confess to hating the small films. Sometimes they are okay, but when they aren't I hate to have to watch it AGAIN!!! Good review! |
