Advantages: Baby likes it
Disadvantages: Repetitive to me - but not to him
Every morning when my baby wakes me up (at 06:30 grrr ...no lie in's for me), we toddle downstairs where he loves to sit and watch the Teletubbies whilst having his breakfast.
The Teletubbies are Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La and Po. They are round, soft, colorful childlike characters with a telly on their tummies, who live in Tellytubby land - a lovely place with green hills and bunnies roaming around.
Each show is 30 minutes long - a little long to keep a baby's attention for the whole time - and at the moment they show on channel two or CBeebies - usually early in the morning.
Most of the show is about the Teletubbies, and you will hear them talking and watch them playing and hugging. They speak in a kind of baby language which is a bit annoying to me but I can see why children like it as it's very easy to understand.
Each show also has a part where a short recording is shown through the telly on the Teletubbies tummy. This is usually a clip of some kids showing us something. This part usually loses my son's attention as he still is only very young and is more drawn to bright colours and strange noises.
My son's favorite part is the end of the show, when ''it's time for Tubby bye bye''. The closing sequence always has a big yellow sun in the sky - with a baby's laughing face in the middle. I'm not sure why but my little one thinks that it's hilarious!!
I don't know exactly what it is about the Teletubbies that seems to mesmerize babies or small children - but it definitely does.
It's a fun little program, without any fancy tricks or CGI - just nice, simple and cute.
The Teletubbies themselves are like babies from another planet, but I'm not too sure if that is what they are meant to be?!
Summary: A lovely show for small children
