A colourful set of characters originally scripted by Andrew Davenport and adapted for television by Rag doll productions.
Children’s education characters portrayed by BBC TV.
Designed for pre-school children.(Although I have been seen watching them on the odd occasion)

Who are the Teletubbies?
They are rounded little creatures with large appealing eyes.
They have a magic holographic panel in their tummies, which acts as a television, and little gizmos on their heads that glow.
Tinky winky is the biggest tubby, whose favourite article is his/her handbag, he/she is purple in colour
Dipsy is the next, who is green and whose favourite article is his/her hat
Laa,laa is yellow and the second smallest, he/she loves his/her ball.
Po, is the smallest, who is red and loves his/her scooter.
Their vocabulary is limited but I guess that it makes it easy for translation.
"Eh, oh" is Tubbie for hello, occasionally it is easy to pick out recognisable words, but it really is baby talk, and it seems that many toddlers actually understand he language.

They all live at home hill a futuristic grass dome with all mod cons, which is surrounded by fields with flowers, rabbits and a magical windmill.
They sleep under silver space blankets and play on their huge slide

Their sole diets consist of tubby custard, a pink goo, and tubby toast, standard toast in the shape of a round happy face. Not too nutritious if you ask me (LOL).
The Noo Noo, a friendly blue vacuum cleaner, cleans mess made by them.
Up in the sky is the sun, a delightful little baby face that oversees the entire goings on in Teletubbies land, and chuckles and babbles gleefully at their antics.

4 years ago they were the in toy, creating huge queues of parents seeking out these friendly creatures for Christmas and birthday presents,(I wasn't one of the masses seen queuing at the local toyshops)
Of course a major
advantage in the fact that they are ageless is that they are available second-hand at vastly reduced prices.

I really thought that they would have been a fad soon to pass by, but they seem to still be a firm favourite with youngsters.

My younger girls have a full collection of the larger stuffed toys plus some doubles for the princely sum of about a tenner, a fraction of the original price.
Educational and fun the antics of the foursome are available on video and in books as well as on Children’s BBC television at 10.10 am every school morning. Videos range from about£6.00 so they are reasonably priced.
There are many associated toys and games also available including dancing and singing dolls.

I particularly like the way that all of the Tubbies are gender free, and they appear to be of mixed race.

As well as teaching children the basics of colours and numbers, it educates on morals and playing together.
I love the way that they all sing in slightly out of tune babyish voices.
My toddler has loved them since she was about 9 months old, and my baby, now 13 months loves the characters and even dances to the music.
They are completely safe for even the youngest viewer allowing a few minutes peace in a busy household such as ours.

The designers have incorporated many features and daily real life portrayals of real people, in which there is a full range of topics covered, ranging from first days at school to religious ceremonies from many cultures, always focussing on pre-school children.
As always the Tubbies are never satisfied with just one viewing so they request it "again, again".
When the day is done the loudspeaker pops up and says "Time for tubby bye bye".
The Tubbies individually wave goodbye and
jump down a hole in the ground.

Further details of the Teletubbies can be found on the BBCs website.

They are non discriminatory and unbiased racially, a true delight for youngsters.

again, again, the curse of my life. Still life without Teletubbies would be harder. Heavy duty anaesthetic.
