Not outstanding but some excellent sketches (That Mitchell and Webb Look)

I'm surprised that That Mitchell and Webb Look has received such low ratings on dooyoo, admittedly it is a bit hit and miss but I find that it is a breath of fresh air in a comedic decade that has become rather stale with the expected gags from the likes of Little Britain and The Catherine Tate Show which of course are quite similar.

This show mixes the mundane and regular with the surreal to come up with some excellent sketches such as the bad vicar, bad waiter and insulting librarian. I find the German SS officers particularly amusing too. Often free of punch lines, Mitchell and Webb also do some awesome parodies - particularly of documentaries on 5 and a house hunting program, on top of this the delivery is often extremely seriously delivered, many of the funny lines are very well-spoken and show an eloquency that hasn't been seen since Black Adder.

This might not be very popular but considering that the fairly boring Lee Evans and Roy Chubby Brown are sell-out stand up comedians - perhaps that is a good thing. Admittedly there are some sketches which are simply not at all funny but I perhaps experimenting is worth it to ensure we have fresh material to laugh at and not re-gurgated simple laughs. This series is enjoying a bit of a cult status and I'm sure it will become more popular over the next few years.
