Advantages: Very fun and some cool, down to earth tasks
Disadvantages: Predictable format
The Apprentice is a reality TV show where starting with 12 candidates, they are whittled down until one is chosen by Sir Alan Sugar to work for him and become his apprentice, which provides them with a handy 6 figure salary.
The candidates are billed as the creme de la creme and they are definitely not but this is what makes the show as good as it is, as we see the candidates make fantastic blunders in front of the cameras and just completely muck things up. The format of the show is always the same. Each week, the candidates are set a task by Sir Alan Sugar. They are split into two teams and compete to do the best within the task (normally sell the most/ make the most profit). They then return to the boardroom and find out which team has won the task. The winning team leaves the boardroom for a treat organised by Sir Sugar whilst the losing team bicker about who is to blame for the loss. This whittles down to three people in the boardroom and eventually one gets fired.
Despite being the same format every week, I find this show to be very compelling and it is very interesting to watch them compete in tasks such as selling miscellaneous items, or making and selling soap, or creating a new brand of chocolates. It is good because I always feel like most people that I could do better and have all sorts of ideas of my own. The show produces some tv gold and is well worth getting into if you have never watched it.
Summary: Great family viewing
