Advantages: entertaining moments

Disadvantages: not really the best business tasks or candidates

The UK version of The Apprentice makes for some great reality TV viewing on ocassion. The idea of a bunch of hopefuls trolling through some inane tasks to prove they are worthy for Alan Sugar to hire can prove very funny at times - mainly down to the incompetence of the candidates and Sugars comments.

OK the comments may be scripted but the delivery is still great. The candidates suffer from the editing as the makers determine how they come across to us. I'm always suprised at whether these are the best candidates in Britain and how they normally work but I guess they are chosen for their entertainment value rather than the skills they possess.

The so called business tasks are usually very low brow and are quite repetitive now over the few series I have seen either involving hard selling or just harassing people with stupid ideas. Although what more can you expect form Sugar who made his money from a company like Amstrad?! The US version has some much better tasks and the candidates seem much slicker. Nevertheless the UK Apprentice has it's moments especially with the 2 Sugar sidekicks (Nick & Margaret) set with the task of monitoring the candidates - their reactions and comments can be classic.

Summary: entertaining watch
