Advantages: A few funny moments

Disadvantages: Too many sketches which don't work

I'm a big fan of Gregor Fisher and whilst I haven't seen much of his recent serious work, I've thoroughly enjoyed his performances in Rab C Nesbiit, Empty and his small role in Love Actually. The Baldy Man where he plays a middle aged loser with annoying neighbours is a bit of a let down however.

A poor man's Mr. Bean, Fisher doesn't manage to pull off the physical comedy anywhere near as well as Mr. Bean and whilst there are some funny sketches, it largely looks very amateurish and the loud audience noise over the silent or almost silent comedy proves a stumbling block as it sounds like a "You've Been Framed" type show.

I think it's failure is that The Baldy Man appears to be completely strange where as despite being hinted as an alien Mr. Bean is pretty much an average Joe who just makes strange decisions. Fisher's greasy strands of hair don't really help enamour the viewer with the character either! This really is quite poor and stands out as a disappointment amongst some very good Scottish comedy.

Summary: A poor man's Mr. Bean
