Advantages: It doesn't involve reality television judges (Sorry couldn't think of anything else)
Disadvantages: Lacks humour, subtlety or character development
Cleveland Brown is a seasoned character from Family Guy (Voiced by Mike Henry), this show follows Cleveland as he leaves Quahog and moves to California with his young son Cleveland Junior and falls in love with and marries his childhood sweetheart taking on her kids and becoming a modern family unit.
Being honest, i'm not getting this show so far, it lacks the cutting edge or the near knuckle humour of family guy and the new characters are dull and two dimensional, the hardest character for me to understand is a large bear with a silly accent, his role in proceedings makes no sense and if their trying to make him a similar character to Brian the Dog in Family Guy its not really working at all.
In the show we have a fat stupid child a second child who thinks he's a sex god, Cleveland who is nice but fairly weak and his wife who is nice but basically a rehash of Lois from Family Guy.
The Show is on E4 on Tuesday nights from 10 to 11pm, I will keep watching it as Family Guy and American Dad were both slow starters, but this show is different in the fact the bear is pointless, the redneck character is a simple stereotype and Clevelands family are dull and stereotyped once again.
Hopefully the writing will improve, if it doesn't I would give this two seasons and send Cleveland back to Quahog!
Revision 26 May 2010:
I've now watched every episode of the series and being honest, for the most part it hasn't got hugely better, my favourite episode was one involving a self-absorbed super cool kid, Kenny West (Kanye West voiced his clearly designed alter-ego) and has a rhyme battle with Cleveland Jr. Other than that there have been tales of racism, flatulence and lost moustaches, generally the humour is very hit and miss, it lacks the narrative and constant referential jokes of Family Guy and the characters generally haven't hit the mark, I think this is more to do with writing than the characters but overall this still doesn't work for me.
Summary: pefully its just a slow starter, but so far this has averaged about one laugh per show!
