On the surface this appears to be a reality show and the first time I watched it I thought it was however then I discovered that actually it is a scripted show masquerading as a reality show and to be honest it is not very good as either. The whole show is based around their social lives and so you get to see lots of scenes of them in bars, cafes or restaurants and they are all tanned and good looking. I have watched this a good few times now, either because friends I'm with have been watching it or because I've been trying to figure out everyone's fascination with it, and I can now say that I still don't understand the hype behind this show at all. ***** The Idea ***** This is, in theory, a reality show which follows the love, life and dramas of Lauren Conrad and her friends in California, a bit like The Real World, which used to be on MTV. Lauren and her friends all seem to have quite a lot of money and are also very big on socialising. In the show we mainly see them out at a bar / restaurant with friends, occasionally at work, ... I usually dont like reality TV and I'm not that big of a soap addict except for Hollyoaks. However, my sisters were raving about the Hills and so I watched a couple of episodes on E4 and I was hooked. The Hills is a spin off from another similar program Laguna Beach. It follows a group of priviledged young adults starting off their careers in Hollywood. The program is cross between a soap and a reality TV show. The events are meant to be real and not staged however this is a debatable as the lighting and the camera angles and sometimes even the dialogue appears staged. Despite this the program is very easy to watch and you get dragged ... Read the complete review

I am a huge fan of the hills, but will try to be unbiased when writing this review. Simply putThe Hills is a light entertainmnet reality tv programme not to be taken too seriously! People doubt the reality part as there maybe scenes which are scripted in the show, however putting this aside it really is a brilliant programme! You get the chance to escape from your own lives for 30mins and enter the world of young american rich kids. Lauren Conrad who was the main character in the show (she has now left) is a huge celebrity in America and is also an excellent role model for young girls. She had romance problems, friendship problems and work problems thoughout all of ... Read the complete review

The Hills is the spin-off show from MTVs Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County which in itself was a reality TV show response to the success of fictional drama The OC. Laguna Beach was laid out as a fly-on-the-wall documentary following financially privileged American high school teenagers living in the Orange County area of California. The Hills follows Lauren Conrad (nicknamed LC) an alumni from 'Laguna' as she moves to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fashion, studying at fashion college, whilst working at an intern at Teen Vogue. She lives with best friend Heidi, who soon drops out of college to work for an events organisation company. Other friends of ... Read the complete review
