The most compelling (fake) reality TV show out there (The Hills)

Advantages: Compelling viewing, lots of drama

Disadvantages: You know it is fake and know half the storylines before they happen

The Hills is a must watch for teen girls and young women in their 20s. However, I have found out that the majority of men seem to hate this programme - with a passion.

The TV show is supposed to be real - it very much is not. If you check out wikipedia and various other sites you will that the show is almost entirely fake. This is most obvious now that the cast are all celebrities with their own clothing lines, music etc - all of which fails to ever be mentioned in the programme.

The show picks up from when Lauren left Laguna Beach (another fab TV series) to head for FIDM in LA. She moves in with her friend Heidi Montag (who featured in 1 episode of Laguna) and gets a job at Teen Vogue where she meets Whitney (who now has her own spin off - The City). The girls also make friends, supposedly randomly with Audrina Partridge (who has admitted she was cast as their LA friend).

We are now on season 5. Lauren and Heidi are no longer friends - largely due to a rumour allegedly spread by Heidi's (now husband) Spencer Pratt - the baddie of the series. Lauren now lives with Lo (another ex-Laguna alumni) and works at People's Revolution with Spencer's sister - Stephanie.

Although the series is completely fake it is still compelling TV. Every girl I know watches it and wishes their life was like that!!
