Advantages: Great cast and script

Disadvantages: A bit smutty for people who are easily offended

The Inbetweeners has been one of the funniest programmes on television over the last year or so, it is generally on E4 although it does eventually get put on Channel 4 also. The show follows Will (Simon Bird) a posh briefcase carrying nerd who has to leave Private school when his parents divorce and join the local comprehensive sixth form. He is shunned by the local kids for being posh and bullied accordingly. Luckily for him there are three more social inadequates who he makes friends with and the programme follows their exploits as hormonal teenagers looking for love, a quick bunk-up and booze. Wills friends are Simon (Joe Thomas ) Jay ( James Buckley ) and Neil (Blake Harrison), each is a particular individual and as individuals and as a group the gang are hilarious.

The show is hilarious it is great for kids of that age who can relate to it, but great for everyone else too as we've all been through teenage years and they are truly this awkward an awful.

The four main characters can be summed up thus:

Will - Posh, pretentious, thinks he knows more than he does, very annoying and prone to making very inappropriate statements once drunk. Socially inadequate but does get served booze in the off-licence and does have a bit of a fling with the most popular girl in school

Simon - Awkward and shy, he is in love with his best friend from nursery school Carly although she goes out with a university boy, he spends the series trying to make her fall for him and embarrassing himself more and more in the process, but he does get a few girls along the way.

Neil - Clueless, gormless and possibly the greatest robotic dancer ever, he has to put up with barbs about his dad's sexuality but is generally totally oblivious to whats going on, has a huge crush on Will's mum.

Jay - He is the funniest character a ladies man in his head, he has done everything and been with everyone but really he's a virgin with no experience at all, he's all mouth and prone to making particularly filthy comments, he is hilarious and pitched absolutely perfectly, occasionally we see his vulnerability and wish to actually be loved and its brilliant as you just put up with the other stuff as you can appreciate him more.

The show has been on for two series and deals with issues such as bunking off school, school trips, teenage crushes, school discos, driving your first car, alcohol and friendship, the narrative style is amusing and the cast are brilliant, this is a very funny comedy and is a credit to the writers and the cast.

Summary: Hilarious comedy about something we've all been through
