The Inbetweeners is a hilarious BAFTA nominated comedy series that was first aired on E4 in May 2008; it focuses on the lives of 4 teenage boys struggling through sixth form.

The series follows Will (Simon Bird) who has had to leave his private school and go to a public one due to his parents divorce. Will is mocked as the newcomer and he doesn't make things easy for himself as he insists on wearing his old school blazer and tie and carrying a briefcase to school.

He manages to find some other lads who share the same social problems, not that they are geeks but they are not popular either hence the name Inbetweeners. Will starts to hang out with Simon Jay and Neil, Simon is the lover of the pack and has his eyes fixed only on one girl, Jay is the sex pervert who is constantly bragging explicitly about what he would like to do to women and Neil is the stupid one. The characters are very different but all share the same element of social awkwardness.

The series consisted of 6 episodes that were each 30 minutes long, which is great as although I wished there was more so you don't miss out on premium comedy. As if it were too long the show would struggle to keep the script fresh and funny.

This show is hilariously funny and reminds me somewhat of my old school days and trying to impress girls and dealing with the problems young lads do. I would say the show is aimed at the younger male audience say 15 - 25, although I introduced my partner to the series and she loved it. If you are offended by crude and bad language then this certainly is not a series for you due to what you would expect from teenage boys there is a lot of it, mainly from Jay. The programme did really well with viewing figures that well over quadrupled by the end of the second series. You will almost certainly find yourself quoting rude words from the series. I really enjoyed it and found myself itching to catch the next episode each week and was constantly laughing aloud throughout which a lot of comedies don't manage these days. This is definitely a series I will buy and cherish as it is really a modern day classic comedy.

Definitely see this if you like good comedy and don't mind excessive swearing.
