Advantages: Great lol moments
Disadvantages: Some really bad crigning moments
I discovered The Inbetweeners after a recommendation from a friend and love the programs.
I've only watched the first series but I just love the program. It's not something I would generally watch and was a bit sceptical about watching it at first but as soon as I did (slightly later than most) I was hooked.
So basically the series follows a group of Sixth-Form teenagers going through the stages of development from children to adults with alcohol, sex and more besides. It is supposed to be an accurate representation of sixth-form life but having just left a Sixth-Form school, waiting of my A-level results and looking forward to uni none of the things they do are realistic at all. Take the sex side of it, contrary to popular belief not all teenage boys are thinking about sex and those with girlfriends are certainly not at it all the time (although if they are they don't talk about it). Actually the series might be truer of an inner-city Sixth-Form but definitely not in the ruralish town schools of Cornwall.
Besides the lack of actual realism it is very entertaining with a lot of laugh-out-loud moments but also some really cringing ones too.
Let's go through the characters on the show... There's Will (Simon Bird), the very intelligent and under confident of the bunch who has only just moved schools after his mother (who the others think is very fit) cannot afford to send him to a private school, which is where he came from in the first place. We've got Jay (James Buckley) who is always concerned about sex but doesn't ever seemed to have had any, but he is the over confident liar. We then have Simon (Joe Thomas) who is always mucking everything up, from his car to girls but he does seem to be the only one that actually cares about girls as opposed to their looks and how soon he can have sex with them. Last but not least we have Neil (Blake Harrison) whose dad is gay and is the most unintelligent of the lot. So that's all of them and the other non-important characters that I'll not mention.
So overall I would recommend The Inbetweeners, but only to those in Sixth-Form/Uni because actual adults wouldn't understand and I don't think they'd appreciate it as much as those actually in the situation (well kind of).
Summary: Pefect show for those in 16+ education
