Advantages: Great actors, story, many laughs
Disadvantages: Only 2 series so far
The Inbetweener is a television comedy show currently broadcast on channel 4.
The show is based around four friends who attend the same secondary school These are Will (Bird), Simon (Thomas), Jay (Buckley)and Neil (Harrison.) The show and each series follows the lives of these four teengers as they attend school, go on holiday, go on day trips and basically struggle through each day by completely embarrasing themselves. We start Series One with Will, a posh new student and a average comprehensive school. We follow him as he makes his way into the school with his posh briefcase and watch how the other students immediately make assumptions based on his background. What makes this section ammusing is Will's voiceover where he expresses his thoughts about what follows. He on his first day is paired up with Simon. A lad who is in his year at school. Simon is to show Will round. He spends most of the first episode trying to get rid of him. It is here where we are introduced to Simon's friends Jay and Neil. To sum up each character, Will is posh and very unpopular, Simon is obsessed with his neighbour and fellow student Carly, Jay is sex-made and quite a fibber and Neil doesn't engage his brain often.
Through each episode we follow the trials of the four as they try to bag the girls, as Simon tries to get with Carly and as all four try to become excepted with very funny cosequences.
My Opinion
I find this show to be absolutely hilarious and can imagine it is what some boys are like at that age. I think it is a programme not to be taken too seriously and is very fun to watch. The four main characters have great chemistry and comic timing with each other as do additional main characters like Carley. I find the scriptwriting in the Inbetweeners to be great as every joke and move/sequence is original. The Inbetweeners takes so many serious scenarios and makes a joke of them. I think the actors picked to play the troublesome four are great as they all portray there characters with a twist and make them different. I also love the fact that we get to look at the life's of the parents making the story even funnier.
A must watch!
