Advantages: You can turn it off

Disadvantages: Host, guests, format, its just horrible television designed to make you squirm

This programme is two parts ITV daytime television programme, one part ancient Gladiatorial showdown. Hosted by the sneeringly unlovable Kyle, he brings on people obviously in need of social care or help and allows them to discuss their personal problems in a manner which would make any trained psychologist bang their massive head against a large oak door.

Basic premise is, put somebody on the show who thinks their child isn't theirs, or that their partner is cheating, then bring on said partner to let them row, occasionally further family members will join in or a surprise secret lover may come on. The show is a scary indictment of British Society in the 21st Century, it is a great example to kids as to why they should study hard at school and avoid the whims of drink, drugs and getting in trouble with the law from a young age.

The show itself is shown on weekdays from 0930 until 11am, the host Jeremy Kyle is a radio dj and appears to be a nasty man, I don't know enough of him to judge other than the totally unpleasant demeanour he has on his show, he sneers and bullies his guests, he makes ridiculously piquant statements which he wants the crowd to cheer to embarass his guests, he will sometimes allow guests a second chance but acts as judge, jury and executioner on their behaviour, he seems unpleasant and has an air of superiority which is difficult to maintain considering his unpleasantness.

The show does occasionally help people I won't deny this, but it appears as though guests are wound up prior to their appearance to the point where they are itching for a scrap and more often than not if you get lots of people in this situation you will get ugly confrontational tv, without being rude the guests are often from disadvantaged backgrounds and aggression and confrontation may be second nature anyway.

This is as a judge once quoted almost a modern form of bear baiting, lets put people on the tv to look down on, laugh at their problems and their ridiculous manner of trying to resolve them, but lets not absolve the ring master or the television channel from their share of responsibility for this ugly, shameless programme either!!

Summary: Ugly, Confrontational and thats just the host!
