Advantages: makes you feel a whole lot better about your own life.

The Jeremy Kyle show is a daytime programme on ITV 1. I think of all the programmes on the goggle box right now, The Jeremy Kyle show has got to be one of the most irritating. Basically it is a show where people go on to a raised platform in front of a live studio audience, to divulge their most personal private business. Every episode has a theme. such as "I slept with my mothers boyfriend" or "im pregnant by my boyfriend and my best friend is too!!" Yes no "highbrow" subject is left unturned. And make no bones about it, the production team never fail to find the people who are more than willing to tell the whole nation there most intimate and shocking stories. Most shows include the token fight. Where two or more of the participants will start scrapping. Oh yes this show oozes class from every pore.
The whole thing is orchestrated by the presenter, Mr holyer than throw Jeremy Kyle. Never have I come across someone who is so arrogant and sanctimonious as this bloke. He also thinks he's a bit hard, as he's always aggressive in his tone, to many of the participants, I personally find this hysterically funny,as he knows full well there are a few burly bouncers behind him ready to pounce if any of the participants retaliate to his tirade of abuse. He will say things like "You are really a pathetic little man aren't you. I'm speaking now!! don't you even think about interrupting me!!" I sit there thinking get over yourself Kyle you are not so pure as the driven snow yourself.
The best thing about this show is the participants, 99% of them come marching on stage with attitude. And the first thing that always springs to my mind is that they are on national TV ,but half of them haven't even put a comb through their hair!! They come on in their Sunday best of trackie bottoms, flip flops and vests. They open their mouths to reveal about three teeth.(and that's just the women). I just cannot understand why these people could not atleast make some degree of effort. And what is so hysterically funny is when two girls are on stage swearing and fighting over a boy. And then Kyle says "lets bring him out" and if you are expecting an Adonis you are going to be disappointed. He is usually some boss eyed, cap wearing, toothless creature!!
In all seriousness though I feel that this show is exploiting people who are not able to see that they are making fools of themselves on national TV. Yes Kyle is always saying that they have a team of counsellors working back stage but are those same counsellors going to stop people from their community pointing and laughing at them when they go back home.
Sometimes, very rarely they will have a show where people will come on and talk about tragedies that have happened in their family, or illness that has affected their lives. These shows are in a totally different league to the others. These guests are not screaming or shouting, just telling their personal story. I find these shows both interesting and emotional.
In conclusion, I would say that the Jeremy Kyle show certainly has the marmite effect. You either love it or hate it. I used to think it was great.But now when I hear the theme tune, I switch it off because I cannot stand Kyle. Its the same thing day after day, Only different people. My advice would be if your home on a weekday, switch the Kyle show off, pour yourself a coffee and read the paper for an hour instead.
One more quick point that i think is very important. if your kids are home, switch this show off straight away. They are often discussing things of an adult nature, which I personally dont think is appropriate for innocent ears.
