Jeremy Kyle is an ITV daytime chat/ help show that is presented by Jeremy Kyle and airs between 9.25am and 10.30am. It is also repeated on ITV2 as well as really early in the morning/ late at night.

The show is very much like US show, Jerry Springer. Kyle aims to help the British public with family, relationship, drugs, drink and sex problems. Although this show isn't quite as extravagant as Jerry Springer, it has seen some quite outrageous guests and problems in the past. Kyle, along with the help of his backstage team, talks to the guests but at other times more drastic measures are taken. He tries to mediate between the guests and get them to talk thinks out in order to solve their problems. In the cases of theft and infidelity, the lie detector test can be used and is around 96% accurate. DNA tests are used to determine biological issues in families, such as who the real father of a baby is. For problems with alcohol or drugs, Kyle and his team attempt to get the guests to go to rehab.

The main thing that attracts me to this show is the amount of humour. I know it isn't supposed to be funny but I can't help but laugh. Some of the problems that are brought onto the show are ridiculous and beyond belief and I just cannot believe that people would bring these kinds of problems onto TV. I know if some of these things were going on in my life, I definitely wouldn't go onto a chat show to get them sorted. Haven't any of these people heard of couple's counselling? Or common sense for that matter. Many of the guests are putting themselves up for being made fun of because they don't act like they should on TV. The majority don't have any manners and they seem content on swearing and shouting at every chance that they get. To me, this just makes them seem like bigger idiots then I thought to begin with.

I guess that you could call Kyle's style as tough love as he often tends to be pretty harsh with the guests. He doesn't like to be interrupted, sworn at or shouted at. Although he tries to seem genuinely caring, it doesn't always come across that way as he has called a lot of people idiots or worse in the past. He sometimes speaks to the guests, especially the teenagers with a huge lack of respect and it determined to treat them like children because that is how they act. While I think that tough love is sometimes the only way to get a point across to someone, treating them like dirt and treating them like they are nothing is not the way to get things done. Kyle seems to think that he has never done anything wrong so he is in the perfect place to tell people how to live their lives but from stories in the press, his life has been far from perfect. I'm not actually sure where Kyle is qualified to help these people, other than the fact that he thinks he can, while the main part of the help comes from the backstage crew.

It isn't very often that I get to watch this show anymore, seeing as I am either at work or college at this time of the morning but I do like to watch it on my days off. There have been some days where the problems/ guests have been that bad that I have had to turn it off. This show is definitely marmite, either love it or hate it. Me, I don't mind it too much.

Summary: 3 stars because it is so rediculous
