The Jeremy Kyle Show
Advantages: Kyle shouting at his guests
Disadvantages: Kyle can be very irritating, same boring issues over and over again
I very rarely watch this as I work during the day but when I'm off sick from work, I do occasionally watch it, as it's probably one of the most exciting things on during the day - that sums up daytime television really!
The show has the same format as Jerry Springer and Trisha where guests come on the show with problems and the host, Jeremy Kyle, tries to sort them out. There is an audience that both cheers and claps depending on whether they like the guests or not and they also get to ask questions or just make comments towards the guests after they have heard their story.
The issues that are presented on the show are the same as on any other talk show including family and relationship problems, sex, drugs and alcohol issues. There are the occasional episodes where lie detector or DNA tests are taken to prove something and these ones are quite fun to watch as they include quite a bit of suspense for both the guests and those watching. The majority of the guests are of the chavvy/pikey kind from up North and most of these probably only go on the show because they're getting paid for it.
Jeremy Kyle is a bit of a strange character - sometimes I like him, sometimes I don't. The times when I like him is when he has a real go at some complete waste of space and he tells them how it really is and that they need to buck up their ideas, whereas other talk show hosts just talk to their guests and very rarely actually shout at them. This is what makes the show quite fun to watch and I'm surprised that a guest he's had a go at hasn't tried to attack him before! More often that not though, I don't like him because he seems to regard himself as being better than everyone else even though he has had his own problems in his life which he seems to repeatedly bring up as if he's trying to prove a point. He seems to be a bit smug with a 'holier than thou' attitude and just generally irritates me quite a bit.
This is probably the best talk show of this kind since Jerry Springer stopped being made but I still only think it warrants a 2 star rating. These kinds of programmes have been going on for far too long now and you just keep hearing about the same problems over and over again. Jeremy makes it a little entertaining by shouting at his guests and sometimes being very harsh towards them, but it's not entertaining enough to make me watch it more than a couple of times a year.
Summary: OK to watch very occasionally
