Advantages: Good stories and crimes to solve, good humour, dishy main character!

Disadvantages: Nothing that I can see yet

Well I've just watched the first episode of the first series of The Mentalist and I have to say this is one that I am definitely going to keep watching.

The Mentalist is based around Patrick Jane who is played by Simon Baker. He's not a psychic, per se, but he has the ability to see things others don't by being very perceptive and by simply observing things and paying very close attention, and he uses his razor sharp skills to work with the California Bureau of Investigation to solve crimes, one of which includes the murder of his own family.

It's kind of along the same lines as CSI and the likes with murders being committed and finding out how the police solve it, but this American series seems much better. It contains some good humour - the detectives are a lot more blunt and straightforward and Patrick is very abrupt in the way he does things which made for a few good laughs. He's very clever and you can see his mind ticking away when he's looking at the murder scene or talking to a suspect or a family or friend of the victim.

The Mentalist is on Channel 5 on Thursday nights from 9-10 pm.

If you like shows like CSI, Criminal Minds and Medium then is a definitely a show that you should give a watch. And a bonus is that Simon Baker is a rather dishy watch!

Summary: Definitely one to watch

This sounds very similar to Lie to Me, which is starting very soon on Sky 1.

I started to watch it, but got caught up with something else, so I'll try again tonight.
