The Mentalist is an american television show that follows a department in the CBI (California Beareau of Invesigation) which is like a scaled down version of the FBI. It shows the day to day solving of the murder's and is based mainly around Patrick Jane, a consultant for them. Played by Simon Baker the character is a very intelligent manipulative person who is very aware and notices things that others miss. The program shows how he aids the department and is a mix of serious and comedy all in one.

The show now in it's fourth season has viewers in it's millions tuning in weekly to get their next fix of the show, I think that the program is very similar to both House M.D and Lie to Me. Not in a plot sense but the sort of character base they have, several intelligent people but with one genius a midst the pack who is always right and teaches you something new every week. It also features the comedy and severity side that those other shows have and it always leaves you on a clif hanger throughout the show letting you make your own assumptions throughout of who you think did it and then only releasing the summary right at the end. You also see lots of little tricks and plays in this show where Jane (Simon Baker) makes you & the others in the cast think one thing, where in actually it is all a big con to lure the criminal.


In conclusion I would say those who are fans of comedy mixed along with thriller then this is a great choice for you, anyone who loves other shows in similar style like House M.D and Lie to Me i believe will find this a great addition to their DVD collection although I do believe almost anyone will enjoy this show.
