The OC

Newest Review: ... teenager characters on the show talk like teenagers and go through a lot of things that many can relate too. Relationships are the centre of the show and the trouble and fun that comes with them. There are a real mix of characters which makes the show interesting: we have the geek who love comics and falls in love with a popular and beautiful girl; we have the poor, troubled kid who was rescued out of prison and who's family abandoned; the beautiful, popular, rich girls who get into trouble and many other weird, crazy and troublesome characters along the way. Yes it's melodramatic, often corny and predictable but it's just so entertainin... more

At first glance this seems like another one of those shows where everyone is rich and beautiful and there are lots of unrealistic drama and scandal. And even though this show has a lot of that it also has some great characters and deals with issues that people can relate to. It is very much a teen series and it appeals to both genders. The OC is a show set in Orange County in California, following the lives of the mostly rich families that inhabit the area. The characters span in age from the teenagers to the grandparents, which makes it an ideal show for so many different people. There are storylines to entertain lots of different demographics, and given that the show has lengthy plots, or just episode long stories, means it's really easy to tune into. You'll soon be unable to leave your screen. The show started with the Cohen family, who seem to form the main base of the programme, as so many plots somehow involve Seth, the guy who brought geek chique to our screens, and his parents. ...  Read the complete review

The O.C. is set in one of the wealthiest county's in California - Orange County. It first aired in 2004 and was written by 24 year old Josh Schwartz. We're introduced to the world through Ryan Atwood, a tough kid from Chino who's in trouble with the law. His lawyer is Sandy Cohen who decides to invite him back to Newport. Once there he meets the Cohen's who become his adoptive family and becomes friends with the girl next door (Marissa Cooper played by Mischa Barton) and the viewers watch them go through life and love of high school. The show doesn't just concentrate on the kids though, the adults get their fair share of storylines which makes it ...  Read the complete review

The OC is an enticing teen drama set in Newport, Orange County. The show started with Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), a teen who became involved with criminal activity thanks to his brother Trey, being taken in by the Cohen family; Sandy (Peter Gallagher), Kirsten (Kelly Rowan) and their unpopular, comic book geek, son Seth (Adam Brody). Of course, the usual romantic entanglements followed with the troubled girl next door Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and her sassy BFF Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson). Then there's the parents. Sandy the entertaining public defender who sympathises with strays, workaholic-turned-alcoholic Kirsten, Marissa's cougar mommy ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The OC: One of my favourites (400 words)

Based in Orange County (Hence the name O.C) California, America. It is quite a serious programme that I would class as a soap slightly similar to Hollyoaks with all the pretty girls and guys. It was originally aired by FOX in 2003 running for four seasons in total and has been broadcast in more than 50 countries. It has touched on so many difficult issues in teen life. It starts with the story of Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) who has come from quite a bad area and been taken in by a wealthy down to earth family, he is used to having to look after himself whether it be fighting, running away from trouble and much more. He has to settle down when he moves into Orange ...  Read the complete review
