The RaccoonsNewest Review: ... recently and was able to buy a Raccoons tshirt from ebay (lots of people commented on it as I obviously sparked some childhood memories! ) and get hold of the series again. There are lots of things that just aren't as magical when you grow up. Either the magic was real or I haven't grown up yet. Either is feasible, but on the whole I think the magic we saw with this programme in the 1980s ... more |

Anyone born in the 1980s or late 1970s will remember saturday mornings getting up early and watching the Raccoons on TV. This canadian cartoon was broadcast from 1985 to 1992. It had a very 1980s New Wave Soundtrack "Run with us" that most people will remember. I went hunting for the raccoons recently and was able to buy a Raccoons tshirt from ebay (lots of people commented on it as I obviously sparked some childhood memories! ) and get hold of the series again. You can run with us, we got everything we need! Run with us, we are free! What a great theme tune. As a child of the 80's The Raccoons was one of my favorite cartoons. I would watch it every saturday morning and I just loved it. Around in the late 80's this cartoon was set 'deep in the heart of the evergreen forest'. It followed a group of Raccoons as they went about there lives. The Evergreen forest was aparently supposed to depict Western Canada, and it did have that Canadian feel to it. The main character was Bert Raccoon, he was a crazy fun loving guy. Always getting himself into mischief and having all kinds of adventures. His two ... Read the complete review

The Raccoons was my favourite animated series from the 1980s which was created by Kevin Gills. It was set in the Evergreen Forest in Canada and featured the characters Bert Raccoon, who wanted to protect his local environment, and Cyril Sneer, a businessman who wanted global domination. Cyril Sneer (whose voice was read by Michae Magee) also had his son and heir to the Sneer fortune, Cedric Sneer, to help him. Cedric however was much less business driven, and was often much more interested in doing the right thing, and sometimes even helping Bert Raccoon and his friends. Cyril also had three pigs to help him, and they were fiercely loyal to ... Read the complete review

I used to love this Canadian cartoon when I was younger. It used to come on BBC1 before Going Live on a Saturday morning. Characters The main character was a clumsy raccoon called Bert. No matter what he did, he always got into trouble. He did fancy himslef as an explorer and adventurer amongst several other things! One episode he tried to make a plane out of a bike - he didn't get very far! He always used to wear a red sweater with goldish cuffs and a big gold "B" on the front. His first and only love in life was peanut butter and that went in all of his recipes! Helping Bert out of trouble, were his two friend Ralph and Melissa, also ... Read the complete review
