Advantages: You regain trust in humankind as you see so many dedicated, selfless people helping others
Disadvantages: You sometimes see the amounts being written on the cheques, which spoils the moment they are given
The idea behind this show is simple - a millionnaire goes undercover in a deprived area, and tries to find people or organisations to help by giving them money. The millionnaire spends time with members of the community over a few days, and you learn of stories of hardship and selfless dedication. There are so many people out there working for charities when they don't have much themselves. At the end of the millionnaire's time he/she visits the people and organisations he/she has decided to help and presents them with cheques; often worth thousands of pounds. That bit usually has me crying, as I love to see the look on the people's faces when they realise that they can put a new kitchen in the community hall, or whatever. They are always so gracious and thankful. The end of the programme shows the millionnaire returning to the area a few weeks later to see how the money is being used. This is nice, as it's good to see that the millionnaire has made a difference to that community.
I think that they should stop doing this series for a couple of years now, as people are starting to get suspicious of why strangers are turning up with a camera crew to film their charities. I think if people know that they might get money in a few days time then the genuine people might be overlooked for ones who can put on a show for the cameras.
Summary: A good watch, that might make you well up at the end!
