Ah The Shield, copious seasons and filled with quality! Mac (the main character) is on the one hand a vile, despicable, dirty cop, who runs a protection racket for the local drug dealers in LA and then goes home to his wife and kids to play happy families. With him are his cronies the 'strike team' who basically go around busting drug dens of the competition whenever they feel like, guns for hire almost. The series revolves around there goings on, and their clashes with the more respectable cops in the precinct 'The Farm' or Famington. The best police drama if not over all drama i have ever seen. For years now i have been telling my friends about a tv show called The Shield, Many of them have never heard of The Shield which shocked me. This is how i explain to my friends what its about. The Shield is about a group of corrupt police officers (the strike team) in a fictional distric of Los Angeles called Farmington, The leader of the strike team is Vic Mackey, A mean, Street-wise detective who will stop at nothing to get revenge on anyone who crosses his patch or even look at him slightly wrong. The Shield is by far and away my favourite TV series ever made and in my opinion it's the best TV show by a mile. Set in the fictional Los Angeles area of Farmington, The Shield follows Vic Mackey (played by Michael Chiklis) and his elite Strike Team as they attempt to regain control of the streets from LA's notorious gangs. The Strike Team members aren't your usual cops though. They're used to fighting fire with fire and aren't averse to using extreme force where necessary. The Shield has to be one of the best police dramas ever written in my opinion. It has been running for seven years, but unfortunately it is now coming to an end. Please be aware that the final season has already been broadcast on FX UK, and on Five so this review may contain some spoilers relating to all seasons. For the life of me I cannot understand why this has been moved for Five US for th last couple of series and even worse than that they have now moved the start time of this one hour show back to 23.00 hrs so it is a late Monday night for me. This is actually the final series in this hard hitting cop show which has long been a big favourite of mine.
