Advantages: Fun for the whole family.

Disadvantages: Not many new episodes on channel 4.

The Simpsons is a cartoon which is shown every weekday at 6:00PM on channel 4 in the UK, new episodes are shown quite regularly on Sky One, as well as repeats and it is also shown in multiple countries around the world.

The Simpsons are:

Father - Homer
Mother - Marge
Son - Bart
Daughter - Lisa
Baby - Maggie

The Simpsons started life as a 30-second filler for an American chat show.

The Simpsons has been made for around twenty years now and has featured many Cameo appearances over the years, such as Ricky Gervais, most people play themselves but I don't really enjoy these episodes as much as the ones just with the Simpsons and the normal Simpson characters.

Over the years they have not really changed much in appearance or aged at all, Maggie is still a baby, Bart is still 10, Lisa is 8, Homer is still fat and Marge still has high blue hair.

Each episode is different in theme and there are often musical episodes as well as horror episodes around Halloween each year.

The cast has grown in numbers over the years and there has only ever been a couple of deaths in all the years that the Simpsons have been around and I believe this is because this show is mainly aimed towards children.

The comedy is quite simple really and occasionally there is some innuendo in the air for the older members of the family to enjoy.

It really is a family friendly comedy because although Homer & Bart are always getting in to some sort of trouble everything seems to resolve itself and the kind of things that happen to them aren't the kind of things that would happen in everyday life or have the potential to happen so it's not like your children would be greatly influenced by watching this show.

I would definitely recommend watching The Simpsons, it doesn't seem to matter whether you watch them in order or not, mainly because the cast never ages and hardly anyone ever dies so it's quite easy to keep up with this cartoon.

Summary: I'd definitely recommend giving this a watch!
