The Unit

Im a big fan of American shows and recently found the Unit, absolutely brilliant. It is shown on Bravo and Virgin channel. Each episode is an hour long. It is based around a specialist American military team who are used for dangerous missions by the American army, mostly counterterrorism. They maintain a cover of the '303rd Logistical Studies Group' based at Fort Griffith. The team is run by Colonel Tom Ryan from base. The show looks at the missions the team carries out and the wives left behind. A review of the CBS television production, The Unit, currently shown on Bravo in the UK. The Unit tells the fictional stories of a small, covert US Army division based loosely on Delta Force, the American undercover counter-terrorism unit. The show is credited as being based on the book "Inside Delta Force" by Eric Haney and Haney himself produces the show. Haney is a former member of Delta Force and it's clear from the content of the stories that much of what the audience sees and hears is based on Haney's own experiences. The Unit was recommended to me because I am a fan of 24 and it's thought to be quite similar. I was initially sceptical, because it appeared to be "just another men's fighting/war show", but I couldn't have been more wrong! The Unit was originally aired in 2006 and has continued for four seasons before being confirmed as cancelled earlier this year (2009). I recently watched an American TV series that was new to me - The Unit. My reason for watching? I am a big fan of the show 24 and had heard that the main character in The Unit was none other than President David Palmer from 24, also known as the actor Dennis Haysbert. The series follows the lives of men in a covert Special Forces team and the missions they are sent on. It is based on the book 'Inside Delta Force: The Story Of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit' by Eric Haney, which is now on my 'to read' list! The Unit ia an American TV series that is based on Eric Haney's book 'Inside Delta Force: The Story Of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit' and focuses on the small, top-secret team of soldiers who make up 'The Unit'. Officially named the '303rd Logistical Studies Group' as cover, 'The Unit' is an elite group of soldiers who are depoloyed around the world to primarily deal with counterterrorism.
