The UnitNewest Review: ... of this top secret unit are scar free. Theres the occasional cut and bruise and the odd bottling in a bar fight but theres never any lasting trace of damage. Sadly the makers saw fit to include glimpses into the members of The Units home lives and we have to endure cosy chats in the kitchen with their wives all of whom know what their husbands do for a job and spend hours discussing it ... more |

Got a job to do that no one else can handle and that it would be very naughty to actually carry out then you need The Unit. The parallels with the 1980s A-Team are glaringly obvious. Both groups are comprised of US Special Forces soldiers answering only to those members of the US government who know they exist. The black operations members of Delta Force don't exist on paper anywhere (apart from with the gas company and the electricity company and their phone provider), their fingerprints aren't on any government data base so they can't be tracked down when they commit a crime and mostly they commit a lot of crimes but as these are always against baddies its ... The Unit was recommended to me because I am a fan of 24 and it's thought to be quite similar. I was initially sceptical, because it appeared to be "just another men's fighting/war show", but I couldn't have been more wrong! The Unit was originally aired in 2006 and has continued for four seasons before being confirmed as cancelled earlier this year (2009). You'll find that re-run episodes are shown regularly on a number of channels including Bravo, Virgin and Five US. "The Unit" is in fact a special, top secret military division inside Delta Force and the series follows one Unit team, their missions and their families back at ... Read the complete review

Im a big fan of American shows and recently found the Unit, absolutely brilliant. It is shown on Bravo and Virgin channel. Each episode is an hour long. It is based around a specialist American military team who are used for dangerous missions by the American army, mostly counterterrorism. They maintain a cover of the '303rd Logistical Studies Group' based at Fort Griffith. The team is run by Colonel Tom Ryan from base. The show looks at the missions the team carries out and the wives left behind. The wives form a close knit group believing 'a distracted solidier is a dead solidier' all problems they solve amongst themselves in the best way possible ... Read the complete review

I first watched The Unit because it was recommended to me by a friend. They informed me that it was similar in many ways to 24 but with slightly less violence (which had put me off 24). It turns out they were right, I came to love The Unit (which has unfortunately been cancelled now). The best bit about The Unit is that it includes a lot more of their family lives outside of the action that is taking place. The Unit is an American action based television show which is based on a book called 'Inside Delta Force' by the shows producer Eric Haney. The Unit is a secret part of the army that is hidden to everyone but a select view top officials (which includes the ... Read the complete review

I recently watched an American TV series that was new to me - The Unit. My reason for watching? I am a big fan of the show 24 and had heard that the main character in The Unit was none other than President David Palmer from 24, also known as the actor Dennis Haysbert. The series follows the lives of men in a covert Special Forces team and the missions they are sent on. It is based on the book 'Inside Delta Force: The Story Of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit' by Eric Haney, which is now on my 'to read' list! It is fast paced, gripping and has that 'how on earth did they get out of that one?!' factor. What I particularly liked about this show was that the main ... Read the complete review
