Advantages: very funny during auditions, some great singers

Disadvantages: gets boring after a few episodes

The X Factor is a strange television show when you think about it because it starts by being one of the funniest shows on television, and yet ends up as one of the most serious, as the contestants battle it out to win the lucrative record deal. This year Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue have been joined by the lovely Cheryl Cole after previous judge Sharon Osborne turned her back on the show. As usual Simon and Louis have been laughing at and tearing into contestants with little or no singing ability, while new recruit Cheryl has been charming to the hopefuls and has done her best to put them back together after Simon and Louis have finished with them!

I heard the other day that Danni is quite annoyed as she believes she has been edited this year to be made to look miserable on set; she believes that the fact she is away filming in Australia quite a lot of the time is the reason for this.

As far as the actual show is concerned I tend to lose interest after the funny auditions and the contestants moving to the boot camp have been selected. I'll watch the odd episode after this point, but only because my girlfriend wants to watch it as opposed to my conscious decision. I must admit that Leona Lewis the winner of the show two years ago is an excellent singer and performer - her voice is amazing, she's gorgeous and I really admire her work. If the show can pluck people like Leona from nowhere it must be worthwhile.
