The X Factor- what more do you need to say?
Even saying the name brings up pictures of brilliant performances and fantastic singers, as well as nasty comments and excruciating auditions!
Shown on a saturday night, the X Factor starts off with a round the country tour, inviting people to audition for them and prove they've got the elusive 'X Factor'. Invariably, it ends up being tens of thousands of hopeless cases singing for the judges, to be told that they're rubbish!
If any talent is found in these auditions, they are then given the coveted 'golden ticket', inviting them to boot camp. There, they will be performing in front of the judges, as well as an audience of all of their fellow contestants. They will systematically be voted off, until we are left with 6 people in each of the final 4 categories- under 25 boys, under 25 girls, over 25s, and groups. Each group is allocated a 'mentor' out of the 4 judges, who whisk them away to exotic places- or Dublin- to find out who's the best!
At this stage, the judges pick 3 each out of the 6 contestants to go through to the final round- the live shows.
At the live shows, each contestant is given a song to perform from a given theme each week, and is to sing for survival in front of the judges and studio audience. Judges give there comments on that performance, and the phone lines are opened for us, the public to vote for our favourite! Judges are then given a majority vote on the two least popular acts each week to 'evict' one of the contestants. On this goes until we get to... The Finals.
On the last night, the final 3 contestants are given 2 songs each to sing, then phonelines are opened for the public. The difference this time being that when the results are shown this time, only the least popular is voted off and the other 2 contestants have to sing again- this time the 'Winners song'. Then the public is given the final chance to vote, with the winner releasing the winners song that very evening, given a £1 million recording deal and shot to super stardom that very night!

Summary: An excellent show, do not miss!

Im a cynic but I though it was a great final. The top two acts could have a lot of years in the biz, unlike last year.
