Advantages: One joke only

Disadvantages: Tacky and cheaply made

This was a reality show that caused quite a stir not least because at the time it was widely reported that the production company ended up paying a six figure amount to each of the male contestants in the show as compensation for the humiliation they sufferred.

The whole show basically rested on one joke, the idea was that ten blokes were all competing for the love of one woman with a cash prize (provided they went on holiday together for a cruise) and the chance for a relationship with an exotic sexy south American (she may actually have been Mexican I can't remember) model called Miriam. What the blokes did not know was that in fact Miriam was a transexual who still had her male genitalia fully intact. To be honest there were a few signs that she was not all that she seemed even if as a viewer you already knew the secret, she was rather spotty on her back which would ba a result of the hormones she took and while you never saw any bulges it was obvious that she had been under the knife for surgery.

Each week the blokes would do a range of challenges to try and impress and also win dates with her and at the end of each episode one would be sent home from the Mediterranean location. Like all such shows everyone lived under the same roof and it was mainly about the posturing of the blokes trying to out do each other and bragging about how much of a ladies man they are.

What did make it easier to watch was that none of the blokes were that pleasant and most were real chauvanists and when she finally revealed the truth those not picked burst out laughing while the winner was pretty horrified especially as they had snogged a couple of times. Needless to say he refused to go on the trip so in theory would not get the money but in the end a few of them got paid off anyway.

This was a pretty limited, one joke show that was a bit tacky to say the least and not something I would recommend.
