You know, I think I have uncovered a conspiracy which would explain a few things about daytime televison. I think that the government pay the television stations to show programmes which are so mind-numbingly boring that it will drive all those isck and unemployed back out to work rather than have them lazing around the house or malingering. There can be no other explanation for the huge pile of lumbering trash which assault our screens daily between the hours of 9pm and 3pm. This is another of those...

Does anyone remember when someone decided in their infinite wisdom that this was a candidate for prime time television viewing? Well, I do and quite frankly even then it sucked. Having shifted it to the daytime, it takes on a whole new lease of suckiness and truly plumbs the depths of crap televison. The idea behind the show is this: Take one group of minor celebrities(most of whom you thought were dead or at least didn't dare to hope were), One host who is about as exctiting as a claw hammer, one nosey American guy with a speech defect which makes him sound as if he is speaking in slow motion and have him wander around some other even more minor celebrity's home and let the panel guess who it belongs to with an unspecified number of guesses and an unspecified time limit.

Yes the concept sucks as badly as Dracula's vegetarian nephew and the execution is sadly even worse. Lloyd Grossman(said American guy) mooches sound the house trying to osund interested and failing miserably before summing up at the end with a bunch of clues which really made the previous wandering around rather pointless. The 'celebrities' say its ummm male...who like crochet and hang-gliding...and knits his own yogurt...and wait stupidly for a clap from the audience of an approving sound from David Frost as to whether they are right or not. Before they either miraculously guess the minorest of minor celebrities(I think its fixed) or fail to do so and they are
revealed and interviewed briefly(chance to plug some recent work). Its all very twee and nice. Lloyd loves everything about the home, David is all very friendly and the 'celebs' are equally kind in their appraisal. In short, its BORING! It needs a Nick Hancock or Paul Merton in the driving seat(thinking BBC here) and a panel of fun celebrities rather than ex-newspaper editors, journalists and old-has-beens and never-weres. Lloyd's accent is annoying, that goes without saying, but at least he shows some signs of life here.

What can I say? Dull concept. Duller execution. You can't play along becuase its rare that you EVER know who the hell they are talking about, and its not fun becuase they never make it fun. A real dud and one for the nosey neighbour style voyeur only - or the chronic insomniac of course...I recommend one showing per day - should knock you out for ages. Sweet dreams.

Fabulously funny op, nice one. I agree they should bring it up to date (Paul Merton or possibly Graham Norton hosting) and go round proper celebrity houses. It could be really amusing. But, as you say, it just isn't.
