Advantages: Cute baby animals!
Disadvantages: Loads of merchandising.
Timmy Time is one of my 2 year olds favourite TV programmes of the moment.
Timy Time is another spin off from Wallace and Gromit, this time it is a spin off of the spin off Shaun the Sheep! Timmy is the baby featured in Shaun the Sheep and is so lovable that only a hard core sheep hater would find fault!
Timmy time is shown on Cbeebies week days, each episode lasts around 15 -20 mins and consists of Timmy and his friends and what they get up to in nursery. Timmy's friends are all baby animals such as a baby owl, kitten, puppy, duck and a few others, as well as an adult owl and Pelican (I think) who are the teachers.
The episodes we have seen so far have shown the animals making masks, playing outside, nap time and dinner time. There is a very memorable song at the beginning of the show which as soon as my little boy hears he comes running from any other room in the house so he can watch.
None of the characters speak as such, they make an appropiate animal sound, for exmple Timmy Baa's the kitten mews etc. This means that my little boy really likes it as he can copy the sounds that the animals make and there is no difficult story line to follow.
As an adult watching it I quite enjoy it, having it on in the background is fine unlike some other shows that make you cringe as soon as you hear the opening title song, I really dislike Me Too on the same channel and try and switch over as soon as I hear the first bar of the song!
The animation is obviously of the best quality and being a Bristol lass (that's where creator Nick Park comes from) I could hapily watch many episodes in one go! I don't even mind watching all the repeats.
The only downside to the programme is all of the merchandising that seems to be following on, but this can be said of many of the childrens programmes produced today.
Summary: Great for the little ones!
