Advantages: old fashioned fun

Disadvantages: I don't find it funny anymore

Top Cat, or TC as he's know to his friends, is known to all of us. I recently saw a few of his cartoons after not having watched any at all since I was a child. He's a dictatorial moggy, based on Phil Silver, who lives in an alley way with a group of his moggy mates. His enemy is Officer Dibble and is always catching TC upto no good using his telephone, impersonating him, stealing fish etc.

Personally, I can't see what I found so funny, apart from their legs as they run to escape trouble - but my kids thought it was hilarious. The toddler actually sat still for five minutes.

Watching it, I realised that this was a new-ish TV experience for them. TV without major violence, lewd behaviour and yelling. It's good, clean fun and doesn't hurt a bit.

I've since kept the particular channel on and have introduced my kids to cartoons from my childhood - a safe alternative to filling their brains up with the usual.
