Advantages: Amusing, appeals to everyone, even non petrol heads

Disadvantages: Absolutely none

This is aprogramme which has seen a complete make over in recent years. I must confess I have watched this programme for years. I remember the years of Quentin Wilson and Chris somebody or other and all they ever did was test out new cars.

I loved it - because I love cars and I loved seeing some of the cars I could never hope to own unless I won the lottery!

But now it is a fantastic show it has become brilliant entertainment - even for those who have only a passing interest in cars. The programme has managed to re-invent itself, the humour contained within the show is great. It is very dry at times and very tongue in cheek - but that rerally appeals to my sense of humour. I think sometimes you can't take it too seriously but at the end of the day do you want entertainment or a documentary.

There is always the general review of a particular car, there is the celebrity bit " star in a reasonably priced car" where a celebrity will race around the track in the hope that their lap will be quicker than anyone elses. Some of the stars have been a real surprise I never had Jennifer Saunders down as such a fast driver.

Then there is "The Stig" he is a mystery driver who takes the featured car around the track in the fastest possible time, once again an element of fun is injected as we try to guess what Stig will be listening to.

There is often a challenge between the three presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James M and Richard Hammond. This may involve such obscure challenges such as making a people carrier convertible or getting back to London with Truffles. Often these challenges are pitting the car against another form of transport - and not unsurprisingly the car generally tends to win.

The interaction and chemistry between the three presenters is what makes this programme. Ok they are all acting out the script that has been written by Mr Clarkson but they all do it very well. This is probably one of the funniest programmes on TV even though its not a comedy

Summary: A great entertainment show - not to be missed
