Advantages: Great presenting style, funny, interesting

Top gear began its life in 1977 and at that point was presented by a number of different people including Angela Rippon, Noel Edmonds and William woollard.

I personally never saw an episode before 2002 and so i cant comment on what any of these presenters bought to the show. Currently Top Gear is presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

There is a great dynamic between the group, Hammond and Clarkson are allways taking the mick out of James 'captain slow' May and he is very much the whipping boy of the group.

The show has a basic structure with certain aspects recurring each week, such as the cool wall (where the three go through what is and is not a cool car to have) star in a reasonably priced car (a celebrity goes round the top gear track in bog standard car).

There are usually challenges set for the presenters such as racing a bullet train accross japan or making their own police cars.

While this show is not at all just for men, i do think that the challenges bring out the little boy in all us blokes. You can see it does in the trio, the humour and the competitive-ness (not sure if thats even a word) really reminds me of the 'mines better than yours' mentality of young lads.

It really works well, and makes for great viewing.

While the programme is about cars, its not really just a car programme, by that i mean you dont need to know anything about cars to enjoy it. I definately wouldnt class myself as being into cars but i love topgear. Apparently they have an estimated 350 million viewers world wide!!!

I must admit i did used to hate Jeremy Clarkson but he does grow on you after a while, as long as you dont take him too seriously as a person.

I reccomend this one to not only car enthusiasts but people who generally like to be entertained.
