Occasionally you will get crossovers with Doctor Who and if you like Torchwood is the adult, scary Doctor Who with less of the 'everyone lives' scenes. Any Good? Of course. I love Torchwood, it ... more

Premium Review More than the appeal of Captain Jack (215 words)

This program has rather a lot to live up two, being one of the two main British Sci-fi programs on offer, and the only one aimed primarily at adults. The first season started off promisingly, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who was worried that it might have 'jumped the shark' by about episode three. This was supposed to be a 'gritty, adult' show, but too often during season one this was interpreted to mean 'full of sex and unnecessary swearing'. I was pleased to see that the writers seemed to move away from this approach during seasons two and three as they actually attempted to tackle very difficult issues surrounding death, trust and love. ...  Read the complete review

The first season was absolutely amazing. The rest of it also, but for me the first season was the most remarkable. There is an impressive sense of awe and mystery you get when Gwen first discovers that there is something not quite normal going on in dreary Cardiff. Her determination to get to the truth and the eventual slow revelations of the mysteries of the universe definitely captures and hooks you into the world of Torchwood. The one-off stories are remarkable and entertaining although the overhanging ark is a bit more disappointing. Captain Jack, while at first an addictive and imposing personality, soon loses his essence as the writers seem unable ...  Read the complete review

Well, I wonder how many watched the latest series on BBC 1 called Children of Earth? We'd been watching the previous 2 series on Watch and the more I saw the more interest I had in the programme. I had been sceptical as the original reason for Torchwood's existence was to save planet earth from alien threats and from Doctor Who, being set up by Quen Victoria. I suppose it was inevitable that we would see what appears to be the end of Torchwood and perhaps of Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman) as he heads into outer space using his teleport device? Did he really stay on earth to correct mistakes that he'd made? I don't believe that aliens would ...  Read the complete review

Torchwood is a spin off programme from the hugely popular Dr Who, and is made by BBC Wales. The setting for the show is Cardiff and the surrounding areas of South Wales. There has currently been two series show, with a new third series, that is shorter, to be shown next week (6th June), will be shown over a week, meaning that the show has been reduced to five episodes from thirteen. The episodes of the show main focus around the presence of alien life forms than are attacking the local population or alien technology that has an adverse affect on the local population; it is then up to the team to solve these problems.
