I used to watch Trigger Happy TV when it was first on our screens many years ago now. It always used to be shown on Channel 4 and was one of their more successful programmes. At the time it was a unique sketch show and I for one found it very funny. I have not watched it for a fair while now but sometimes catch repeats and still find it hilarious.

Trigger Happy TV was the invention of Dom Joly and involves basic humour to be honest with you but shows what we find funny really. There is nothing too complicated at all with alot of the sketches and I think that's a good thing as you don't have to think about it too much.

Each episode lasted about half hour and featured some stupid scenes like the man shouting into his mobile phone which became probably the most famous part of the whole show over the years and was a like a symbol representing it.

Alot of the work that Dom Joly did was like a parody of real life and making fun of all of us and our regular day to day lives. For example, when he played the annoying man shouting into his giant mobile phone while all is quiet around him. Years ago all mobiles were huge, but more so I'm sure we have all been on a train carriage where everyone is quiet and someone is irritating and speaking very loudly into their phone disturbing the peace.

Then there are just stupid sketches like fights between people in fancy dress in the middle of a busy street etc. Pretty stupid but funny nonetheless.

The only thing I find with this sort of comedy is although it was funny at the start it is one of those things you can watch in small doses but if you watch it too much then the jokes start getting a bit boring perhaps. They are the same but just in different places. That's what I always found that this TV show always was original but was one that had a short shelf life and be funny. Having said that if you've never seen it then it's worth checking out as you can relate to alot of it and the fact that it's filmed in the streets etc. in the middle of the public makes it funnier.
