Advantages: Good acting
Disadvantages: Pace
This was brought to my attention by a friend after the first season had finished.
True Blood follows the relationship between humans and vampires in Bon Temps focusing on Sookie Stackhouse and her relationship with Bill Compton. Sookie happens to be a telepathic waitress whilst Bill is a vampire. Fortunately Bill is the type to purchase synthetic blood.
The acting is generally quite good with Anna Paquin and Nelsan Ellis standing out from the rest with regard to the quality of their performances. Visually the vampires are more believable and impressive than other tv series such as Buffy.
The flaw with True Blood is the pace. Whilst in the first season this didn't seem to be a problem, the second season has dragged somewhat. For several of the episodes in the second season I've found myself wondering why it has taken 55 minutes for so little to be divulged and it is annoying. Despite that I still look forward to each episode.
Provided the pace was not an issue I would rate it 5 stars but as the pace in the second season has been quite poor, it'll have to be four.
Summary: Entertaining

- 27/08/09 On that theme, Being Human Series 1 was brilliant. Looking forward to Series 2. |
